Emmanuel & Sonali

Emmanuel Singh and his wife Sonali were back in Singapore from November 5-11. Emmanuel is the pastor in Kolkata, India, with whom our church is working.  They came for Sunday worship and for the Reformation Day Conference.  Our family was able to spend some time with them as well.

Emmanuel & Sonali very much enjoyed the speeches and fellowship at the Reformation Day Conference.

We got together with them and some others at Seow Thong & Jean's condo 

after the conference.  This is Jason and Jael walking toward the playground together.

On Sunday between services, Emmanuel gave a presentation of his work and life in India.

We went to the airport on the 11th to see them off, along with Seow Thong & Jean.

Reformation Day Conference

Our church's annual Reformation Day Conference (RDC) was held November 9-10.  The first speech was on Monday evening, and with Tuesday being a public holiday (Deepavali--a Hindu holiday), we were able to have the rest of the conference during the day that day.

The chairman of the RDC committee, Tian Loong, did an incredible amount of work to prepare some very interesting exhibits on the reformers and our confessions.

The speeches were on the covenant:  the historical development of the covenant during the Reformation, the doctrine of the covenant, and how the covenant applies to our lives.

Before the speeches, we had some reading material up on the screen at the front of the sanctuary.

There were also books for sale and a display of the Salt Shakers magazine put out by our youth.

Dinner was served before the speech on Monday, and lunch between the speeches on Tuesday.

It was a very enjoyable conference, with many visitors present.  May God bless the speeches and fellowship for the upbuilding of His church and for His own glory.

Life in General

There haven't been any major events lately, which makes blog-writing a bit difficult. :-)  So this is a miscellaneous post about some random happenings in the last month or two.

Actually, I guess this classifies as a major event:  at the beginning of October, Kong Wee & Dorcas Lee had a baby boy, whom they named Noah.  Another couple from church, Paul & Anthea, had a baby girl today.  The congregation is so excited about these new little arrivals! Our family visited the Lees a couple of weeks ago to see their new baby.

We are in our twelfth week of this school year.

Nichelle Wong joins Jessica and Eric for art once a week.  We have finished a drawing 

series and are into a series of art projects, taught on DVD from a Christian perspective.

Some of you may know Ishu Mahtani, a member of CERC who has owned a silk store for the past 30 years.  He just closed his shop and turned the whole business over to his brother. He had a shop-closing event one evening and invited our family so Andy could give an exhortation.
