Changes Coming

As many of you may have heard by now, this past Sunday my husband accepted the call to be the pastor of Byron Center PRC.  As nothing else blog-worthy has happened recently, I thought I would post some miscellaneous pictures taken in the last couple months, which will show many of the people we will miss when we leave CERC.

First, the little ones in church.  In our first 2 1/2 years in Singapore, there were no infant baptisms.  Since then the church has changed a lot, and six more couples are expecting babies next year!

Next, our kids' friends.

Youth outing at the Lims' condo

And finally, many of the adults from church are pictured below, celebrating the 99th birthday of Madam Lo.

Please remember these dear saints in your prayers in the coming months!

Justin & Danielle Dykstra

Justin & Danielle Dykstra from Faith PRC spent a couple of weekends in Singapore at the end of September and beginning of October.

A Chinese medicine shop in Chinatown--They went here with
some of CERC's youth.  In the back are dried sea cucumbers.

Jason thought Justin & Danielle were the greatest. :-)

Justin & Danielle also enjoyed meeting several of the members of CERC.

We are so glad Justin & Danielle made time in their big Asia trip to come to Singapore!  Both our family and the church enjoyed having them with us for a while.

CERC's 30th Anniversary

On September 23 the congregation gathered together to celebrate its 30th anniversary.  The gathering included singing; a speech; the reading of letters from PRC ministers and our missionary in Kolkata, Rev. Emmanuel Singh; some special numbers by a few Bible study groups; and of course the Singapore tradition of cake-cutting!

Prof. & Mrs. Hanko had John VanBaren videotape their greetings,
and Prof. spoke to the congregation for about ten minutes.
They are much loved for all the work they have done in Singapore!

The evening concluded with dinner.

And finally, here is a photo of Covenant Evangelical Reformed Church!

God has richly blessed this congregation in her first 30 years of existence.  We pray He will continue to gather and bless His church in Singapore until Christ returns!
