VBS, Days 3 & 4

The last half of Vacation Bible School was held at a chalet in a beautiful location on the eastern coast of Singapore.

The highlight for the kids each year is the wet games!

Hold a cup on your head with a sharp stick poking out the top; 

use that stick to puncture a water balloon hanging above you.

And just a general dumping of water on anyone!

There were also more lessons on the gospel being preached in all nations.

We parents are so thankful for all the work so many people from church did in planning this VBS, helping with the kids throughout the week, and teaching the lessons.  We pray that our children may have learned from their lessons, and we pray also for the missionaries throughout the world who bring God's Word.  "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come" (Matt. 24:14).

VBS, Days 1 & 2

CERC's annual Vacation Bible School was held last week from Tuesday-Friday.  Instead of spending the whole week at a chalet in eastern Singapore as they usually do, the first day and a half were spent at church (with no overnighter Tuesday night).  The theme this year was "The Gospel: A Witness Unto All Nations."  The organizing committee and the lesson leaders did an excellent job with this theme!

One of the special activities was a Skype call with Emmanuel & Sonali in Kolkata, to ask questions about Emmanuel's work there.  The kids also enjoyed a chance to play the tabla, Indian drums.

The children were split up into four different groups for lessons and crafts.

Between lessons there was time for lunch and games.

On Wednesday there was an outing to Singapore's Changi Airport.

The kids were split into different groups and had activities to do throughout the airport, in the terminals that would take them to our sister churches and the mission fields in the Philippines and Kolkata.

Jessica and Nichelle had spent a lot of time making a Global Twister game--the same concept as Twister, but played on a map of the world.  The game seemed to be a hit!

One of the other activities at the airport was to piece together pictures of missionaries/ministers.

After the outing they headed to the chalet for the rest of the week.  Pictures from there will come later, Lord willing!

Youth Reformation Day Conference

Besides the annual Reformation Day Conference put on by CERC, the youth of our church also host their own.  This year's theme was the Reformation of 1857--some Dutch and Michigan history!

Following the speech there was a quiz, presented by Tian Loong, who did a serious quiz from the speech but also had a personal agenda. ;-)

Yang Zhi chaired the conference and pointed out a couple of books that were available for purchase.

We are thankful to see such an interest among the youth in the history and doctrines of God's church.  May He continue to build them up in their faith.
