Visit from the Drneks (1)

With Jon & Michelle Drnek's family here for almost two weeks, we were able to see many of the sights of Singapore.

Most of us at the Battlebox (WWII bunker)

Caleb got really close to a lemur and a white-faced saki monkey at the zoo.

Ryan got to be in a show at the bird park, with two toucans landing on his arms.

Jon also got to participate in the show.

With too many of us to fit into one car, we spent a lot of time on public transportation!

Waiting for a bus to take us to the MRT (train) station

The Drnek kids were excited about riding a double-decker bus!

A different train ride

We often tried to stand in the front of the train so the kids could look out
the windows--although almost all you can see is a dark tunnel ahead of you. :-)

There were also new foods to try.

Wonton mee (dish on top) is a favorite of some in our family.

The Drneks were also able to renew their friendship with the Lee family, whom they had met in the U.S. a couple of years ago.

More Visitors!

Early last Friday morning my sister's family arrived in Singapore.  Jon & Michelle and their six kids came to visit us for almost two weeks.

Arriving at Changi Airport in Singapore

We have introduced them already to some of the sights of our neighborhood and our "everyday life" of grocery shopping, library, etc.

At one of the libraries we go to

And there is the chaos of 15 people sharing a flat. ;-)

Liz VanDrunen (Faith PRC) is also in Singapore right now, and we met her at church on Sunday.  Here are some Sunday photos of our visitors:

Visiting after the second service

Today all of the visitors went with our family and Yoon Chuan & Jee Fung to the island of Pulau Ubin.

Lunch before heading to the island

Liz and Emily have both been to India and enjoyed
comparing their experiences after looking at the lunch menu together!

I think at this point we were watching some monkeys along the trail.

At the last minute we got to see a wild boar!

We really enjoyed meeting Liz and are looking forward to the rest of our time with Jon & Michelle and their kids!
