The girls who made the meal--Iva Chan, Tze Yan Lim, and Isa Chan. They did a great job on the turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, salad, and corn...hopefully I'm not forgetting anything!
We ate at our house, but they didn't let me do any work and even vacuumed and mopped
my floors for me afterward!
Dessert was some Singapore fruits. Clockwise from the front left are longan,
rambutan, mangosteen, and persimmon.
Afterwards we took some group pictures. Besides the Engelsmas and us, in the back are Daisy, Peng Lan, Angela, and Felix. In front are Yang Zhi, Iva, Marcus, Isa, and Tze Yan. Missing from this picture are Seow Thong and his wife Jean.
The evening ended with Jean trying to teach Jason how to walk. He's too young to walk yet (only 9 months), but he had a great time trying, and we had a great time watching!
We thought of you all as you were gathering in worship on Thanksgiving Day. We missed being with you and with our families. But how thankful we are for the family of God, including our new "family members" here in Singapore!
thanks for posting this; I thought of you while we were in church on Thanksgiving and wondered if you were "celebrating" thanksgiving...I'm glad the church is taking such good care of you there :) How sweet of them to put together a meal for you! and to clean it up....even better :)
ReplyDeleteBrianna mailed a letter this week (I finally mailed it...she wrote it the minute we got back from the airport to see you off; she was so taken away by your family leaving and talked about it for days, she just felt so bad for Jessica...it was cute to listen to her pray for your family so earnestly for days after you left :) We all pray for you; I'm sure it's so hard being away from family but thankful you are meeting some new "family" there!
Love, the Baas'
I love seeing the picture of you all sitting at the table for the meal. Neat pictures!!
